Report: Austin Among Best Tech Cities in Nation
In the fast-paced tech industry, finding success often hinges on the city’s environment, and Austin is proving to be among the best. According to a recent report by Cloudwards analyzing the best tech cities in the US, Austin has secured its position as the 7th best tech city in the nation.
Cloudwards analyzed 17 key indicators across 100 tech-savvy cities, including salaries, cost of living, internet quality, job opportunities, and tech-related companies. Austin earned top marks in several of the study’s major categories, including Career and Education, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Internet Coverage and Quality, Tech Community, & Cost of Living and Tech Salaries.
With more than 5,000 tech companies in the area, including major players like Dell, IBM, General Motors, and Amazon, Austin offers ample opportunities for tech professionals.
“Texas’s capital, Austin is a good place for startups since it’s easy to find top talent, initial capital and inexpensive office space,” the report states. “However, due to the rapid rise in population (3 percent between 2021 and 2022), the cost of living has increased and access to good real estate has become more costly. Even so, the city’s distinct culture, access to educational opportunities and work-life balance continue to make Austin a popular choice for many IT professionals.”
