Del Valle ISD Invites Community Nominations for New High School Name

Del Valle ISD has opened a nomination form to allow community members to submit name suggestions for the district’s second high school, currently under construction in the Whisper Valley neighborhood.

Following the two-week public nomination period, the district will convene a naming committee, as required by board policy. Submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17. The committee will meet after the nomination period to review nominations and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees in accordance with the district’s Facilities Naming Policy.

The Board of Trustees will then adopt a final name selection from the committee’s recommendations.

As part of this process, community members are invited to contribute their ideas for the new school’s name at www.dvisd.net/hs2name. This effort ensures the voices of students, families, and residents help shape the identity of the new campus.

The new high school, approved by voters in 2022 as part of a $300 million bond, will help address the district’s growing enrollment. Del Valle High School currently serves approximately 3600 students. The planned 430,000 square-foot building will offer a variety of programs aimed at preparing students for both college and career opportunities after graduation. The anticipated opening date is August 2027.
