Memorial Day Weekend Events in Austin
Looking for fun things to during Memorial Day Weekend in Austin? The Memorial Weekend Austin Flea with Austin Beerworks is a crowd favorite. Grab brews and shop local handmade items from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages.
Also on Saturday, the May ATX Art Market at Drinks Lounge in East Austin brings together a curated group of Austin-based artists, makers and vintage dealers showcasing one-of-a-kind art, crafts, jewelry and vintage items. Admission is free and the event lasts from 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
On Sunday, May 26, pack a picnic and watch “The Merchant of Venice” at Zilker Hillside Theatre’s free Shakespeare in the Park series. The show starts at 8 p.m. and admission is free!
Swimming Holes and Tubing
After all the rain we’ve seen this month, it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the beginnings of summer at local pools and swimming holes. Barton Springs will likely be crowded, so why not check out other nearby swimming spots like Hancock Springs Free Flow Pool, Inks Lake State Park/Devil’s Waterhole or McKinney Falls State Park? Make sure to arrive early to avoid crowds, and keep an eye on the state park websites for more information about water levels.
If you’re interested in tubing, grab a cooler and float the day away on the San Marcos River, Comal River near New Braunfels or the Guadalupe River in Gruene. Make sure to call now to arrange a float trip and arrive early to avoid crowds!
