What to Know for the Taste of East Austin Festival & 5K
We’re just five days away from the Taste of East Austin Festival & 5K! Whether you’ve signed up to run or you just want to attend the festival, here are a few things you should know ahead of Whisper Valley’s exciting Austin 5K and festival on Saturday, Sept. 15:
5K Registration & Packet Pickup
If you haven’t registered for the 5K yet, don’t fret! Early registration ends on Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. and same-day registration will be available on the morning of the race at 7 a.m. Same-day registration tickets will be $30. The 5K will start promptly at 8 a.m.
Packet pickup for early registrants will take place on Friday, Sept. 14 from 4-6 p.m. at the Whisper Valley Discovery Center, located at 9400 Petrichor Blvd. Whisper Valley, TX 78653. You can also pick up your packet on the morning of the race beginning at 7 a.m.
Race Information and Parking
The 5K starts and ends on Petrichor Boulevard. The race is a timed event and will start promptly at 8 a.m. 5K participants are welcome to walk if they prefer. Participants will receive a complimentary beer at the finish line, as well as an event swag bag, t-shirt and finishers medal.
Street parking will be the only parking available, so participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking.
Weather
The Taste of East Austin 5K and Festival will happen rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, we will watch the forecast and push back the start time if needed. We will email participants as needed and also post updates on Whisper Valley’s social media pages.
Central Texas Food Bank
Not only will you feel accomplished by starting your day with a good run, but you’ll feel good knowing a portion of the registration fees from the Taste of East Austin 5K benefit the Central Texas Food Bank!
Festival
The Taste of East Austin Festival will begin at 9 a.m. with live music, 26 local artisans and boutiques, and plenty of delicious food and cocktails from East Austin restaurants and food trucks. Admission to the festival is free! There will be food and drinks available for purchase, as well as local vendors selling a variety of goods. The event ends at 12 p.m.
