What We Know About the New H-E-B Headquarters in East Austin

We all know Austin is one of the top cities in the country for tech companies and startups, but Whisper Valley is thrilled to see Texas’ beloved H-E-B bring a world-class tech facility to East Austin in particular. The new H-E-B headquarters for their digital team will be located in a renovated industrial warehouse and is projected to open this year.

H-E-B announced last fall that they were leasing an 81,000-square-foot office at at 2416 East Sixth Street. With big plans to fully customize the former warehouse, the new H-E-B headquarters will be used for the Digital Team and Favor, an on-demand delivery service that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of H-E-B.

The new facility will be a “hub for creativity and innovation” and will allow H-E-B and Favor to work closer together to develop the ultimate digital experience for customers, according to a statement by Jag Bath, H-E-B Chief Digital Officer and Favor CEO and President.

H-E-B also plans to hire hundreds of employees “across all areas of expertise” to work in the new digital headquarters, including product management, product design and software engineering. Career opportunities can be found on the H-E-B and Favor websites.

Digital Growth

The effort to move H-E-B’s digital team into the new, state-of-the-art space will help H-E-B’s efforts to compete with retail giants like Amazon and Walmart in the digital space. Favor and H-E-B Curbside service are among H-E-B’s premier digital offerings. Utilizing the Favor app, users can order food from a wide variety of restaurants, groceries and errands, and even beer and wine to be delivered right to your doorstep. H-E-B Delivery and H-E-B Curbside service is available in more than 165 stores across the state.
