Whisper Valley Wins Best in American Living Awards

Whisper Valley is proud to be recognized on the national stage yet again. During the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas on Feb. 1, Whisper Valley won two 2022 Best in American Living Awards (BALA): Gold in “The Game Changer” category and Silver in the “Green Community” category.

BALA recognizes premier communities across the country for achievements in innovation, design, and impact. Judging is conducted by eight industry experts, including builders, architects, designers and land planners, from across the country.

Whisper Valley’s innovative design has been recognized locally and nationally in recent years. The sustainable community won “2021 Master-Planned Community of the Year” at the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin’s MAX Awards, “Project of the Year” at the 2021 Austin Green Awards, and “Best Sustainable Project” at the 2019 Green Home Builder Sustainable Innovation Awards.

Making Sustainable Attainable

Before Whisper Valley, there had never been a large master-planned community utilizing geothermal energy to power all homes at an affordable price point. The EcoSmart Solution, Whisper Valley’s green energy service provider, and the GeoGrid™, the community’s network of geothermal exchange infrastructure, made zero energy capable living a reality.

Every home utilizes a geothermal heat pump to connect to the GeoGrid™, which reduces energy consumption by up to 80 percent when paired with Solar PV to generate electricity. This results in zero energy capable homes that achieve Home Energy Ratings in the mid-teens to mid-20s (and some homes have been rated as low as 7).

Homeowners can also opt to add a home battery through the Whisper Valley Power Resiliency Package upgrade. Home batteries store excess solar energy to be used at night or during power outages, enabling homes to operate independently from the grid during the duration of the charge.

Zero Energy Capable Homes

New home opportunities in new phases of Whisper Valley are selling now. Highview and Glenmore offer new 35-, 40- and 50-foot homesites and new trails connected to the community trail system. With homes priced from the $300s-$600s, builders include Pacesetter Homes, GFO Home, AHA Dream Homes, Thurman Homes and Terrata Homes.
